What the App Does
- Capture or upload plate images for automatic colony detection & counting.
- Review counts, adjust thresholds, and save named sessions.
- Sync your results to restore them across devices.
- Export counts and images for lab notes, reports, and teaching.
Google data we request & why
BactCounter uses Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication) solely to authenticate you and sync your saved counters.
Scope | Why it’s needed |

openid | Identify your account securely and maintain a session. |
email | Associate your saved counters with your account and send account-related messages if needed. |
profile | Display your display name/avatar in the app UI (if available). |
No other Google scopes (e.g., Gmail, Drive, Calendar) are requested.
We do not sell personal data.
Data handling summary
- Collection: basic profile, email, and authentication identifiers from Google; counters and images you upload.
- Use: authenticate, sync, and restore your counters; provide app functionality.
- Sharing: no selling of data. Third-party processors (Google/Firebase) provide authentication and storage.
- Retention: data is kept while your account remains active. You can delete your data at any time.
